Kulefu “the faraway place” Tented Camp is situated on a permanent channel of the Zambezi River, and is shaded by massive winterthorn trees which provide a cool and relaxing location within the Lower Zambezi National Park.
This is a small and exclusive Camp, with only six spacious tented chalets. Each of which is equipped with mosquito nets and en-suite facilities, and wonderful River views.
The central lounge and dining area are housed in a magnificent Bedouin style tent which allows for an open air setting. Teak furniture and natural fabrics add an authentic feel to this incredible bush experience as well as providing guests with a highly comfortable stay.
After a sumptuous dinner, an evening campfire forms an integral part of the Camp where you can sit and discuss the events and sightings of the day. Traditional paraffin lamps illuminate pathways and tent entrances.
You may wish to relax in the swimming pool, located right on the River bank, on the adjacent deck.
Guests can also stay remarkable active at Kulefu, with a choice of day and night drives in open safari vehicles, or walking safaris allowing you to get much closer to nature that you can imagine. There are also canoeing trips on the Zambezi River – an exceptional way to see game. You might choose to do a boat excursion, or try your hand at some fishing (the River is renowned for tiger fish, and catfish, along with several species of bream. There is a strict catch and release policy.
In the evenings, you can also learn about the night sky, as you enjoy some stargazing.
The area is known for its excellent game, as wildlife tends to be concentrated in an area between the River and a steep escarpment. You have a good chance of seeing elephant, lion, hippo, wild dog, and leopard, to name but a few.
