Luangwa Encounter, is an adventurous walking safari, which makes use of comfortable Bushcamps for the overnight accommodation, in the beautiful and diverse South Luangwa National Park. This itinerary is available from 01 June to 31 October.
Upon your arrival at either Lusaka Airport, you will be met by our representative, and assisted onto your light aircraft flight to Mfuwe International Airport, where a representative from the Bushcamp Company or Mfuwe Lodge will meet you and take you in an open Landrover to Mfuwe Lodge.
The Lodge is situated in the Park itself, and due to the excellent road network allows for excellent game drives and night drives. Accommodation is in 18 thatched chalets, each with private decks/ verandas, and excellent views of the surrounds.

Day 2 and 3
This morning there is a road transfer to Chamilandu Camp, where you will spend the next 2 nights. Here you will explore the ebony groves, and oxbow lagoons – which offer a diversity of habitat, and home to abundant wildlife.
Accommodation is in 2-metre high tree house chalets, all with a tasteful blend of modern classic décor, and which provide a bird’s eye view over the waters of the Luangwa River and the Chindeni Hills. Open to a 180° vista, the front of each tree house provides the exciting frame from which to observe the day to day movement of wildlife.

Day 4 and 5
After an early breakfast at Chamilandu, you start your walking trail, heading for Chindeni, where you arrive in time for a hearty brunch.
Here you will spend your time viewing the game from your own private raised wooden decking overlooking the still waters of the lagoon and exploring the evergreen forests on foot. Surrounded by majestic hills, shaded by ancient ebonies and nestled on the apex of an ox-bow lagoon, Chindeni helps weave the spell that is Africa.

Day 6 and 7
Continuing your walk in a southerly direction, you head towards the confluence of the Kapamba and Luangwa Rivers. Here you will find Bilimungwe, which holds the distinction of being the southernmost camp in the National park.
Bilimungwe Bushcamp offers not only solitude, but is also the ideal place to discover yet another face of the Luangwa Valley, exploring on foot or in a vehicle. The permanent water hole is a popular venue for wildlife and the shallow, clear Kapamba River offers the perfect setting to cool down, relax and reflect on the Luangwa encounter that you have just experienced.
